Like to Become a Member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Chapter Kentucky 1-5?
Thank you for your interest in joining the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association. First of all we are NOT a motorcycle club (M/C) and we have no desire to become one. We are a VETERANS ASSOCIATION that happens to enjoy riding motorcycles. And believe me, we do ride! Not only to support our group but to assist other organizations supporting veteran’s issues.
If you are here for the sole reason of supporting veterans then this is your association! We are looking for active participants in supporting veteran’s issues, not patch hunters that do not believe in our mission, “Vets Helping Vets”. We ask that you visit our national web site at www.combatvet.org. It will tell you what we are about and our guidelines for joining the CVMA. Please take time to read the CVMA By-Laws. Pay close attention to membership requirements in article 3 of the by-laws:
MEMBERSHIP ARTICLE 3,
Section 1. Any person: a. of good character. b. Who is a Veteran of a Foreign War, "Combat" c. The ONLY Acceptable proof for membership to the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association is a copy of one's DD 214 or ERB/ORB which must be surrendered to the BOD for verification.
d. Annual dues will be $20 for full Combat members and $10 for military support members. Dues for CVMA members deployed in a war zone will be waived. Dues for all members are due in June of each year. Dues for new members will cover the balance of the current year and dues will be collected again in June. Dues for all new members joining after March 1st will be considered as paid in full for the balance of the current year and the following year.
e. Must own and operate a Motorcycle of 500cc or above.
f. Should a full member resign they will be given a 5 day grace period to rescind their resignation with no repercussions. After the 5 day grace period a member will have to re-apply for membership as a new member and will require BOD approval.
g. Active members in good standing with the CVMA who after 5 years become infirm, disabled or otherwise unable to ride their motorcycles will be able to keep their patch and be retired as life time members in good standing with the CVMA.
h. Life membership requirements: 3 years active in the CVMA. Member must be in good standing for all three years and minimum participation of one sanctioned CVMA event per year is required. Cost for life membership is $200 if a life member quits for any reason or the member is removed from the CVMA rolls for any reason, no refunds will be made.
If you are still interested in joining and feel you meet our requirements, then please read and be familiar with the “M/C Protocol 101” at this link: http://combatvet.org/ (We are not an M/C, but should know the rules of that world since we sometimes ride in the same circles). If you would like an application come to one of our meetings or ask for one so we can meet you. When we receive your packet we will review it and forward to National level for final review and approval. Once approved, you will be notified, and able to contact the State Quartermaster, or the Chapter Commander to purchase your back patch. The Chapter Commander will let you know how your patch will be presented to you.
You do not have to wait on the membership card to start being active in the group. We encourage you to attend our meetings whenever possible so you can meet our other members and can start enjoying the camaraderie of your fellow veterans. If you have any more questions please feel free to contact us.
Again thanks for your interest in joining the CVMA.
